JSC Launches Probe into Bribery Allegations Against Judge

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has initiated investigations into bribery allegations against a judge, prompted by claims circulating on social media and the subsequent arrest of a journalist.

The announcement was made on Monday, highlighting the Commission's commitment to addressing concerns about judicial integrity. Chief Registrar, Winfridah Mokaya, stated that the Commission is acting under its constitutional mandate, as outlined in Articles 172 and 158, to protect judicial independence while ensuring accountability and integrity within the Judiciary.

The statement emphasized the JSC's dedication to upholding the rule of law. The allegations have fueled public debate, with growing calls for increased transparency in handling cases of alleged judicial misconduct. Although the JSC did not reveal the judge's identity or specific details of the allegations, it assured the public that updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.

This move underscores the JSC's determination to tackle corruption within the Judiciary, particularly at a time when ethical conduct remains a focal point of public discourse.
