Practicing Status Definitions
Active
The advocate is certified to practice for the indicated year.

Inactive
The advocate is not certified to practice for the indicated year.

Dormant
The advocate has not been certified to practice for over one year.

Struck Off
The advocate is STRUCK OFF the Advocates’ Roll and is not permitted to practice.

Suspended
The advocate is temporarily not permitted to practice.

Unknown
The advocate status is unknown.

Note
The Advocates Act CAP. 16 Section 24 states:
(1) Every practising certificate shall bear the date of the day on which it is issued and shall have effect from the beginning of that day: Provided that a practising certificate which is issued during the first month of any practising year shall have effect for all purposes from the beginning of that month.
