Former PC’s Son Threatens Legal Action Against President Ruto Over Land Claim

Moses Kipkirui Cheluget, son of the late former Provincial Commissioner Isaiah Cheluget, has threatened to sue President William Ruto over claims that the president promised to distribute 5,600 acres of his father’s land. The allegations stem from statements Ruto reportedly made, claiming he had spoken with Isaiah Cheluget, who passed away in 2017, about purchasing the land.

In a statement issued on 9th May 2025, Moses Kipkirui Cheluget described the president’s claims as “careless” and “false,” emphasizing that his father could not have engaged in any such conversation due to his death eight years prior. Cheluget announced his intent to pursue legal action to address the misrepresentation and protect his family’s legacy.

The disputed land, reportedly located in Kericho County, has become a focal point of controversy, with Cheluget accusing the president of making unfounded promises to distribute it. This development adds to ongoing public discontent with President Ruto’s administration, which has faced criticism over unfulfilled campaign promises and economic challenges. The government has yet to issue an official response to Cheluget’s allegations.
