Afya na Haki (AHAKI)

Afya na Haki (Ahaki) is an African research and training institute dedicated to advancing health, human rights, and sexual and reproductive health and rights across the continent. Employing Africentric approaches, Ahaki aims to co-create and promote African solutions to African challenges by engaging local communities on pertinent issues. The institute's mission encompasses generating evidence, enhancing advocacy capacities, and fostering strategic partnerships that embrace positive African narratives, shifting the perspective from victimhood to agency.

Ahaki's work is structured around three core pillars:

1. Evidence Generation: Conducting research on health, human rights, and SRHR through an Africentric lens to decolonize research methodologies.

2. Advocacy Capacity Enhancement: Strengthening the advocacy capabilities of stakeholders in health, human rights, and SRHR by utilizing Africentric approaches.

3. Partnership and Collaboration: Collaborating with various institutions at national, regional, and global levels to advance evidence generation and capacity enhancement in health, human rights, and SRHR.

A notable initiative under Ahaki's umbrella is the Litigating Reproductive Justice in Africa (LIRA) Programme, which seeks to shift the focus from reproductive choice to reproductive justice in advancing SRHR. This program aims to establish, strengthen, and sustain a regional network dedicated to reproductive justice litigation, ensuring access to SRHR across Africa.

Ahaki also offers consultancy services, including research, capacity enhancement, and legal and policy analysis, alongside providing luxurious and private conference facilities for meetings and events.

Through its comprehensive programs and services, Ahaki is committed to harnessing Africa's potential by addressing health and human rights challenges with culturally relevant and effective solutions.
