Haki Nawiri
Haki Nawiri Afrika is a dynamic initiative founded in 2019 by Kenyan activists in collaboration with university students from Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. The organization is dedicated to advancing social justice within marginalized communities and among university students, with a vision of a world where every individual fully enjoys their rights, regardless of social class. Haki Nawiri Afrika places university students at the forefront of its efforts, utilizing their potential to address systemic social justice issues across communities. The organization offers a range of programs, including human rights education, paralegal training, and student-police dialogues, aimed at empowering youth and fostering resilience through psychosocial support.
Beyond education, Haki Nawiri Afrika champions gender justice, advocating for equal opportunities and fair treatment under the law for all genders. It also addresses climate justice and food justice by raising awareness and promoting sustainable practices like agroecology among smallholder farmers and urban dwellers. Through online and offline platforms, the organization engages in dialogues on human rights, climate crises, and movement building, while also representing marginalized voices at national and regional conferences. Membership is open to both individuals and organizations, fostering a collaborative approach to tackling systemic inequalities. With a focus on legal empowerment, advocacy, and community resilience, Haki Nawiri Afrika stands as a vital force in promoting justice and equity across Africa.
