Kenya Law Reform Commission

The Kenya Law Reform Commission (KLRC) is a statutory body established under the Kenya Law Reform Commission Act, 2013, mandated to keep under review all the laws of Kenya to ensure their systematic development and reform in conformity with the Constitution. The Commission's mission is to facilitate law reform conducive to social, economic, and political development by ensuring that Kenyan laws are modernized, relevant, and harmonized.

The KLRC's core functions include initiating and considering proposals for law reform, preparing new legislation to give effect to the Constitution, and providing technical assistance to both national and county governments in the development or reform of legislation. The Commission also encourages public participation in the law-making process and educates the public on legal matters through seminars, workshops, and other public engagements.

The Commission is governed by a Board of Commissioners responsible for oversight and policy direction.

Through its dedicated efforts, the KLRC plays a pivotal role in ensuring that Kenya's legal framework remains dynamic and responsive to the changing needs of society, thereby promoting justice, good governance, and the rule of law.
